Barnes & Noble Back to Campus - Buttons

Every summer a select number of Pratt Institute students are chosen to design the Barnes & Noble Back to Campus collection. As one of the students selected to design the 2015 collection, I presented 3 concepts: Colorful Authors, Patterns, and Buttons. We worked in a studio environment under team leader Professor Tom Dolle where each student pitched and refined their ideas. During this project I explored materials and production techniques, created professional comps and made presentations to the B&N team.

Leaving for college is a time rich with excitement and nostalgia. Vintage buttons are the perfect materialization of these feelings.  This collection brings the fun, unique, vintage look to everyday school and life supplies.

On each of the products there is something different about one of the buttons. For example, on the cloth versions of the design, an actual button would be sewn on the design in the midst of the printed on image of a button collage, adding an extra element of surprise and individuality.

This collection would consist of a water bottle/thermos, tote bag, a hard or soft pencil case, and journal.
